History of Library
The Belgrade Community Library was established
in 1932 by the Belgrade Women's club. It was housed in the city offices.
In 1934 volunteers began building a new log structure on Main Street
and on January 24, 1935 the library moved into the "Log Cabin." This
was home for the library until 1989 when again community volunteers
came together and built the facility at 106 N. Broadway and the library
moved once more. In 2002, a new addition to the library was built,
adding 5500 square feet.
Current Statistics
Belgrade Community Library has more than 32,000 items in the collection,
as well as more than 7,700 registered borrowers. The Library receives
more than 4,000 visits from borrowers per month.
Donation Statistics
During 2007, more than 2,000 volunteer hours were given to the library.
More than 4,000 new items have been added to the library's collection
in the past year, paid for entirely by donations and grants.
A new circulation desk was designed and installed by Atsco and Wagner
cabintery companies. The project was funded entirely by private donations
and donated labor.
